Hello Dear Panelists. I am doing my MBA in Media and Entertainment from WWI. The course gives a view of the overall television business from production, distribution and marketing...etc..Can you enlighten me about the salaries and payments that the industry offers in production (EP, Prod. controller, etc) vs marketing/sales. Who is paid higher? Also, how does one grow in designations in the area.
Would be of great help since I have found mixed opinions on this.

The choice of the career should be as per your interest. Marketing of films is far different from handling production.
Now coming to your question of late marketing and production are more of a free lance job however distribution could be a full time job.
The defination of an EP is different depending on your employer. If you work with a corporate like Via com 18, Eros etc then the EP is not very high however if you are the EP of a production house means you are second to the producer.
In terms of salary marketers draw the highest followed by production people followed by distribution people.
All the eilds give you opportunities of growth. Foinally if you want to be producer, you are better off as a marketer or on the production side.
