You have done short films so you could use them as a show reel. They may not be technically great but atleast the directors you approach to assist will get an idea of your thinking and story development ability. You will need to do your run around and meet directors who you feel make films that suit your thinking. It might be a good idea to do a film course at a film school. I do not know which city you are from else, Delhi has jamiat islamia, pune has FTII, similarly bengalore, chennail and hyderabad have good schools.
